UrbanV and PAX Aeroportos join forces to build a Vertiport Testbed at Campo de Marte Airport, São Paulo, and boost Advanced Air Mobility in Brazil
Rome, Friday, February 7 – UrbanV, an Italian operator of vertiport networks, and PAX Aeroportos, the concessionaire of Campo de Marte and Jacarepaguá airports in Brazil, announce that they have been selected by ANAC (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil) to implement a regulatory environment (sandbox) at Campo de Marte Airport (São Paulo).
This strategic initiative marks a significant milestone for the development of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in Brazil, creating a test bed for innovative solutions under realistic conditions.
The regulatory sandbox will ensure that these solutions meet safety, efficiency, and regulatory standards before large-scale implementation.
The experimentation will focus on defining design criteria for vertiports, the analysis of passenger data processing, and the optimal integration of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into existing airport infrastructure.
The commitment undertaken by UrbanV and PAX consists of the joint development of vertiport infrastructure at Campo de Marte and Jacarepaguá airports, with the goal of evaluating the construction and management of additional vertiports in the São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro regions.
The partnership represents a fundamental step toward the creation of a more efficient, sustainable, and innovative urban and regional air mobility ecosystem in Brazil.
Carlo Tursi, CEO of UrbanV: "At UrbanV, we want to improve people's lives by offering a fast, efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly alternative to existing transport solutions for short-haul air transport of cargo and people. We aspire to become a major global operator of vertiport networks and will be global pioneers in defining the first Advanced Air Mobility routes worldwide. We are excited to partner with PAX Aeroportos, a major player in the airport management sector, and look forward to exploring with them the great potential of Advanced Air Mobility in Brazil."
"PAX Aeroportos operates two airports with strategic locations in the two largest capitals of Brazil. Our activities focus mainly on general and commercial aviation, and our current customer base is aligned with the future demand for eVTOL travel in urban areas. We can therefore bring important resources to contribute to the development of the Advanced Air Mobility business: thanks to the partnership with UrbanV in the Regulatory Sandbox process, we will be able to contribute our expertise to defining the framework for the design and implementation of vertiport infrastructure in Brazil," said Rogério Prado, CEO of PAX Aeroportos.
