The UV-0 Test Vertiport is an open innovation hub, developed in partnership with Aeroporti di Roma, aimed at assisting industry partners in enhancing their solutions, ensuring compliance with future regulations, and enabling UrbanV to gain valuable operational experience in advance of our commercial launch. The scope of the proposed Sandbox is to facilitate both experimental activities with ground systems and demonstration or flight tests involving UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) and VCA (VTOL Capable Aircraft). Managed by UrbanV, the Sandbox operates under the oversight of ENAC, according to the ENAC Sandbox Guidelines No. 2023/001-GEN.

A key innovation at the UV-0 vertiport test facility is the integration of UAS traffic into the airport environment. Preliminary tests have successfully shown that UAS operations can be carried out simultaneously and concurrently with the regular FCO airport operations without interference. These tests are carefully designed to mirror the actual operational contexts in which drones will later be utilized for a range of applications (including inspections, surveillance, and logistics transport), both within and in the proximity of airports. Moreover, our goal is to become the first vertiport operator to pioneer the testing of U-Space services to advance development of Aerial Mobility (AAM).
